Transitions
Transitions can be hard right? What we might think will go one way we often find will go entirely differently. Sometimes though (and most often I find) where we end up is just where we ought to be!
Thus here we are, instead of sending our dear Scout to the same school as her big sister we have decided what would be best for Scout (just turned age 5) is to home-school her for her Kindergarten year under the philosophies of Waldorf education. She is a sweet, thoughtful, sensitive person and we would like to protect that in this next year of her development and beyond.
As I will be home schooling her this next year and as I am working through my LifeWay's North America Early Childhood certification training I am looking for other little friends interested in joining us. If you know of someone with a child age 3 to 5 who is looking for an gentle, enriching, nurturing experience for the 2014-2015 school year I am holding space for some friends to join us. I will be offering a small Waldorf based program in our home starting in September.
We are calling this Little Root Children's School. Little Root comes from the understanding that young children, ages 0 to 7 need special tending as their roots here on Earth are very small and tender. I believe in allowing children time to blossom on their own, giving space for their roots to grow while nourishing the soil that surrounds them.
I will be offering 2, 3 and 4 day options, M-Th in our home with a small group of children. I will be providing healthful, organic food, often grown in our garden. Our program will run about 4 hours per day from about 9 to 1. We are still working through lots of the details, however we are excited to start talking to other families who may have this need.
